Off to the moon, then
(also, workshop app deadline soon)
Workshop reminder
First, a reminder that the deadline for writing workshop submissions is at the end of May. I’ve received enough lovely submissions for a full Indian cohort already, but I welcome more, because depending on the overall picture at monthend I might actually decide to have a single cohort, a larger Indian one. To everyone who’s already submitted, thanks again, and you’ll hear from me in about a month.
Moonwards
MIT press recently published a new annotated edition of the Jules Verne classic - launched it at the same time as the Artemis II mission, I think. Very pleased to have an essay in the set, and wish I were actually on the moon right now. This is probably as close as I’ll ever get.
International Extravaganza
You’re probably already aware of this if you follow this newsletter, but Lavanya Lakshminarayan’s Intergalactic Feast has been out for a couple of months (India, UK, US)! I’ve been a fan of this space opera/future of food saga from the very beginning, and if you haven’t had the pleasure yet, get yourself a copy of Interstellar Megachef right away, because Feast is a sequel.
I have a bunch of waiting announcements but they’ll have to keep waiting - between wars and genocides and economic collapses and election fraud and national climate crisis it becomes a little hard to chafe about any writerly stuff. I hope you’re having a decent time, wherever you are, and I hope summer is kind to all of us.
